SKIN CYCLING: FOUR STEPS TO ELEVATE YOUR ROUTINE

SKIN CYCLING: FOUR STEPS TO ELEVATE YOUR ROUTINE

What is Skin Cycling?

Skin Cycling is the latest trend in terms of skin care routine, and as it could not be otherwise, today we wanted to talk to you about it.

But what exactly is Skin Cycling?

Skin Cycling was born from dermatologist Whitney Bowe , and is a routine that is based on three key points: exfoliation, use of retinoids, and recovery . It is a routine that aims to be very respectful of the skin, since sometimes we tend to over-exfoliate it or use treatments that are too aggressive for it, without allowing it to recover.

Therefore, what Dr. Bowe proposes is to simplify our routine with a few very clear steps to obtain the best results.

What are your steps?

Skin Cycling is essentially made up of four steps:

  • First night : exfoliation (if it is chemical, better)
  • Second night : retinoids
  • Third night : recovery
  • Fourth night : recovery

Once these four nights are completed, the cycle must be repeated . That is, we would start again with the first night (exfoliation) and so on.

Skin Cycling does not mean using only these products, not at all! You should continue doing your usual routine, whether more basic or more advanced. What Skin Cycling emphasizes is using specific active ingredients in a specific order, thus ensuring that your skin benefits and recovers.

For example, it is absolutely essential to use sunscreen every day, and even more so if you use retinoids in your routine, as this method proposes.

Benefits of Skin Cycling

We love Skin Cycling for three reasons:

  1. Use of high-quality cosmetic active ingredients : chemical exfoliants and retinoids are widely known and used in Korean cosmetics, and we understand it!
  2. Simplification: by having such marked steps, it is very easy to follow this routine and always be clear about what you are applying and why.
  3. Personalization – Skin Cycling can be fully customized to your skin type. If you want more tips, keep reading!

Skin Cycling routine for each skin type

Knowing what the four steps of the cycle are, we can personalize our routine adapting it to the needs of your skin. Here we leave you some examples:

Exfoliation: Dr. Bowe recommends a chemical exfoliant , and we have the ideal exfoliant, Benton's Peeling Gel . This exfoliant is ideal because PHA acids are suitable for even the most sensitive skin , thus ensuring effective exfoliation, but without putting your skin at risk.

Retinoids : Here, we could not recommend anything other than our beloved Some By Mi Retinol Intense Reactivating serumIt contains 0.1% pure retinol along with Retinal 1ppm, and Bakuchiol 5,000ppm, an ideal percentage if you want to start introducing retinol into your routine.

Recovery: the recovery step is focused on two products essentially: moisturizing cream and/or night mask . A cream that we love is Tocobo Multi Ceramide Cream, a cream with a high percentage of ceramides ideal for calming and protecting the barrier function of your skin.

This step is where you can customize your routine the most. For example, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, perhaps Tocobo's Cream is a bit heavy for you. No problem! You can use, for example, Isntree's Aqua Gel Cream , a gel-textured cream that combination and oily skin types love.

On the other hand, night masks are also a wonderful ally to recover your skin while you sleep and wake up radiant in the morning. You will love Huxley's Goodnight Sleep mask or Isntree's Hyaluronic Acid Sleeping Mask. Another factor to take into account when we talk about personalizing Skin Cycling is that if you are a person who is already used to using retinoids or your skin is very resistant in general, you may not need to do two nights of recovery and with one enough.
